Dateline: Wed., April 4, 2018, the Los Angeles Times reports via Bloomberg that "Hershey goes for cocoa sustainability". Which is GREAT NEWS, indeed!
Here is what this means...
First off, Hershey Chocolate & Confectionary Corporation (aka, Hershey) is a HUGE company and the fact that they have adopted and are going to continue to adopt #sustainable policies is an excellent example of good corporate and brand citizenship. Just this example is going to lead to other large companies undertaking similar measures.
In terms of this recent article, Hershey has established a program called "Cocoa for Good" which "will invest (the) funds though 2030 to support four key areas: nourishing children, empowering youth, building prosperous communities and preserving natural ecosystems." Goals include eliminating child labor and increasing shade-grown cocoa.
Doesn't this just make you want to go out and buy a Hershey bar!?...

Hershey is an example of a large corporation paying attention to the world in which it does business. Rather than simply exploiting the land and it's people to conduct business, Hershey has stepped up and acknowledged its place in the world as a corporate citizen.
